Hey YOUTH!!
It was great to hear many of you enjoying the movie. But don't let it stop at just entertainment value.
What do you think was the message of the movie?
Here are the discussions Qs that we'll hopefully get to next Fri. Start thinking about it while the movie is fresh in your brains.
Q1:
Often the right decision isn’t so clear cut. Deep inside, we know what we ought to do but we are always tempted to justify ourselves and take the easy way out/ the short cut. 4 men in the movie decided to do what was right despite the consequences.
How did each of them display courage? What was the cost of making the right decision?
Q2: Reflection and share if possible.
What are areas in your life that you need the courage to fix up for God?
E.g.
• fought with your siblings/argued with your parents/ insulted and hurt a friend and you need to reconcile
• you held on to a grudge for a long time and it is time to forgive
• maybe you need to confess a lie you’ve committed
• you’ve thought yourself a “good enough” son/daughter/friend but you really need to be showing more love and care and appreciation
• maybe you’ve compromised your relationship with God while trying to ‘fit in’ with your friends and it is time to take up your cross and serve the Lord, no matter what the cost
Q3: In the song “Courageous” there is a stanza that goes:
The only way we'll ever stand
Is on our knees with lifted hands
Make us courageous
Lord, make us courageous
What do these lyrics mean? How can we make our stand and win the “war of the mind” and the “battle of the heart”?
