2008 EMYF Committee Elections

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is well. Just wanted to pop in to let you guys all know about the 2008 EMYF Comittee Elections.

I have approached several people about being in committee for 2008 and I hope those people have read the "Formal Written Commitments for Committee Members of EMYF package" and prayed hard about whether they would like to be in the committee.

This year, as the new committee of EMYF will focus on building up the spiritual growth of those between year 8 and 12, we have decided that the committee members shall be those who are NOT in those year groups. Hence, for you to be eligible, you need to be:

-17 years and above (17 years - going onto tertiary education)
-be baptised
-come to youth group regularly for 3 months

We will however have assistant leaders who may be in high school and these will be determined by the committee members who will lead individual bible study groups. In addition to this, we would also like to see our committee members growing spiritually for themselves and hence, would like to ask our committee members to attend their own bible study group (ie. a small group/bible college), be an active member of the church and come on Friday nights to EMYF. We know that this is a big ask but believe that this will the best way for both the committee members and members of EMYF to keep growing in Christ. There are also some guidelines with which you would need to agree to if you choose to be a committee member of EMYF (these are outlined in the "Formal Written Commitments for Committee Members of EMYF package").

Those who are above year 12 are encouraged to think about whether they would like to lead in EMYF. We encourage those who are above year 12 to join Manna. You are still welcome to come to EMYF however, please bare in mind that as of April 2008, the material being taught will be focused more towards high school students and topics more relevant to them. You may find that you have covered it all before and are not getting spiritually fed as much as if you were to join Manna.

If you would like to be part of the team, please shoot me an email, call or sms and I will put your name on the nominations list. We recognise that there is a lot of responsibility and commitment that is required of you so please do pray about it. Nominations will close on 11th March 2008 at 12pm and the 2008 elections will be held on 14th March 2008 during youth group.

The following are the 5 committee positions up for grabs:

-President
-Vice President/Transport
-Secretary/Citizenship
-Treasurer
-Worship & Outreach

Please have a think and pray about which of these positions you would like to serve in if you are interested in serving with the youth group. If you would like more details on any of these positions, feel free to ask me and I will email the details to you. Kevin has kindly attached a copy of the "Formal Written Commitments for Committee Members of EMYF" under "Important things" to the right hand side of the website so if you are interested, feel free to have a read or if you have lost the copy I have given you, please print out another one as you will need to hand a signed copy to me if you opt to become a committee member. This year looks to be a fantastic year ahead and I can't wait to see how it all pans out! =)
