Not Today

Hey Youthies!!!

Hope you all have been having a good week and not stressing out too much from exams/tests but trudging on, faithfully trusting in our almighty God.

Take the opportunity to have a rest from studying this Friday, and come to youth as we will be watching "Not Today", a movie that raises awareness about child trafficking in India.  I think movies like this remind us to take a BIGGER godly perspective on life - when we see how much other people suffer, we realise how small and insignificant our own worries and fears are and gain a heart of thankfulness.  So I encourage all ppl having exams to come, then after watching the movie, you will find that exams aren't that daunting after all!

Here's the trailer if you want to find out more:

Offering collected on the night will be going to SIM (Serving in Mission) Aid's project, Girls of the Streets, which rescue women and child from prostitution and trafficking in India and Bangladesh.

So please remember to bring a little extra cash.  I'm hoping each youth can give $5.00.  Everyday 200 young girls are sold into prostitution in India - 80% against their own will (i.e. children are sold, tricked or kidnapped), 20% enter the sex trade out of poverty and desperation.  Just $76 AUD can give a girl in India housing, medical care, counselling, legal support and education for ONE month.

Feel free to make yourself comfortable with cushions and bring movie snackies, but also come ready to be challenged.  As one of the movie reviews states:
This movie is also not one to watch if you want to live in a bubble, unconcerned about the outside world and its problems. This movie will move you, change you, and rock your world. So don’t say, “not today.” Watch this film today and brace for change.

See you Friday!!

“Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” – Matthew 25:44-46 (ESV)
