Hi guys,

Hope you're all enjoying the holidays! There will be no youth this coming Friday on the 17th due to the busy holiday schedules of many, however you are all free to come over to my place to wind down for the end of an year. Just let me know prior hand. Maybe it might be time for some fun, laughs and jokes or maybe a reflection of the year that has passed. Youth will recommence on the 28th of January 2011

Take the time of break to recharge your batteries, have some fun whilst growing closer to our God. This way, more smiling faces, more happily serving youths will just be around the corner.

Operation Christmas Child

This coming Friday, we are packing shoe boxes for the less fortunate so that they may experience the love, compassion and blessing that Christ has brought to us. In order for this to go ahead smoothly, please adhere to bringing the appropriate material.
Please remember to bring the following:
- Shoebox (if you have more than 1, please bring as many as you can)
- Decorative Utensils (Glue, scissors, texta etc. anything to help you decorate)
- Any of the suggested list attached below, please bring a reasonable amount. Some material will be provided however that itself will be insufficient.

How to pack a shoe box Find an empty shoe box. (You can wrap it—lid separately—if you like, but wrapping is not required.) Decide whether your gift will be for a boy or girl and choose an age category: (2-4), (5-9), or (10-14). Attach the appropriate Boy/Girl label on the TOP of your box and mark the correct age category.
Fill your shoe box with a variety of gifts: Something to play with: small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, mouth organs, yo-yos, kaleidoscopes, jigsaw puzzles, marbles, slinky etc. Something to write and draw with : pen, pencil and sharpener, crayons or felt pens, stamps and ink pad sets, coloring books, writing pads or paper, solar calculators, etc. Something of personal hygiene items: toothbrush (no toothpaste), soap, comb, face washer, etc. Something to wear: baseball cap, beanie, socks, T-shirt, hair clips, watch, sandals, thongs, etc. Something special: carry bag, sunglasses, bangles, necklace, stickers, craft kits etc. [Please do not wrap the individual gifts inside the box, and do NOT include the following items like food, chocolate, glass/china, soiled clothing, water pistols, toy guns, pen knives, or war related items, lipstick, pierced earrings, picture frames, books other than colouring or picture books, modeling clay, as it may be eaten, or glue in any form other than stick] You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. (If you include your name and address, the child who receives your box may write you back.)

District Youth Gathering

It's this time of the year again! Remember 'Glow' from last year? No? Yes, maybe..? Well, this year's equivalent gathering is about to take place this coming Friday. This is a night for all churches under the WA CMCA district umbrella to enjoy fellowship together and to praise our Lord together as one family. Hope to see you there!

Come this Friday and the youth group is hopefully filled with fresh smelling aroma. This week, we invite all the parents of the youth along with the youths to participate in a group combined Master Chef challenge. Please don't come with an empty stomach in case some of the food is not edible, however I am confident all dishes will pass the hygiene and food quality test (Come half full if possible).

What is supplied:

- Gas sourced stove

- All the special produce you need (Excluding additives such as salt, pepper, oil)

- Ceramic plates

- Cups

What you may want to bring:

- Pan, utensil that you may want to use

- Aluminum foil (if required) or anything that isn't mentioned above

Bible Study group leaders should contact you to make arrangements.

What's that you ask? Well the half time study break for this coming week is a inspiring video featuring the life story of Nick Vujicic. Who is this I hear you ask? He is an inspiring individual born without any limbs but is still able to remain upbeat and positive given his unfortunate circumstance. He is a speaker and director of Life Without Limbs, a non-profit Christian organisation.

Reminders:

- And also please don't forget....Camp forms! Camp forms! Camp forms! Only 1 month, before the camp itself, so please hand them to me asap.

- 18th of June's Friday event is entitled "Special Birthday Celebration" of which we will be facilitating cooking competitions. The reason why it is more 'special' compared to the norm is because we'll be inviting the parents to join us on that night. So please ask your parents if they are able to join us on that night!

Prayer and Sharing Night

Ok, this is what I was thinking when attempting to do the weekly post..

yes! exams are coming! I say this not from personal encounters but instead through observing body language of stressed youths and gradual reduction in attendance. You might think that I'm quite apathetic to all this. But nope, I've been through it and can empathise with you all and hence I encourage all you youths to plan efficiently in your study regime so that Friday night can be break from staring. Instead it can lighten your mood up through sharing whilst bring any uncertainties to our Father in heaven.

But I have an exam on Saturday, it's the following morning!

Ans: Firstly, I can assure you that it won't finish late, so you'll get your beauty sleep. If you are cramming the night before..... there is most probably something wrong, if the knowledge wasn't in your head for the whole semester, it's suppose to be on the night before the exam? Surely you don't need multi million dollar study to prove this. You will get some goodness in, but not efficiently. So I encourage you to plan ahead and reserve Friday night for a little chillax time, a great balance I reckon.

7:30pm Friday, Education Building. It'll be worth it, cause spending time with God (and also one another) is always worth it.

There will be a dinner before the movie, so...

Please come and join the Combined District Youth Gathering on the 26 of September. It will be held at Grace Methodist Church down in Forrestdale; it's not that far, and you can check out their new(ish) building!

More importantly, let's gather to celebrate unity, and to learn more from Dr Brian Harris who will be speaking on the night!

One more important announcement is that we will be taking registrations for the AMYC on the night at the early bird rate! If you still want to come to AMYC, or invite some friends, you can still get the early bird rate. AND; if you come to our EMYF, we are also going to give you a further discount (to $130)! This can also apply to your friends.

IRON MASTERCHEF NIGHT!

hey everyone!!

Just want to let everyone know that this week's special program at EMYF is Iron Masterchef Nite - A Cookoff with the Parents.

The main ingredient that will be used in your dishes is Fruits. You'll be cooking in your tribe groups and will be alloacted a certain amount of fruits to cook with. You will not only be judged on the taste of your dish but the relativity to a bible story. So please feel free to bring your friends and most importantly invite your parents to come along!

It would also help if you could bring some utensils from the kitchen (e.g. knives, chopping boards, nice plates/bowls/glasses, etc.) and any other ingredient that will go well with fruits! (e.g custard, whipped cream, etc..)

40Hr FAMINE - Do something REAL

Hey all...

Our youth will be participating in the 40 hour Famine this year.

For those who don't know what 40 hour famine is.. it is a yearly youth fundraising event that raises funds for children living in poverty in Cambodia and Kenya.

Do something real and sacrifice something you love for 40hrs (be it facebook, food, tv, furniture.. ) and have people supporting you by donating funds. It's a great way for young people in Australia to experience what life is like for those to have to go without - every single day...

The 40 hour famine weekend start at 8pm on Friday 21 August and finishes at noon on Sunday 23 August. So please I encourage everyone to participate this year, although it will be challenging but it makes you realise how much God has really blessed you in your life.

AMYC 2009!!! ~~~

Every year an Australian Methodist Youth Convention is held at selected cities around Australia and this year it's at PERTH! And our church has the privilege to be the host of this year's Australian Methodist Youth Convention!

The convention will be held on 29th Nov to 2nd Dec at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp.The theme for this year is 'Called to Lead' and the special speaker for this topic at AMYC will be Rev. Dr. Brian Harris.

Registration forms are out and are available on the EMYF board. The early bird fee of $155 is currently still available so be quick in registering cos it will be over on 16th August (Sunday).

We seriously encourage you to mark the dates down in your diary and consider on coming along! It will be a guaranteed fastastic time spent getting to know more about God and our fellow brothers and sisters from Chinese Methodist youth groups all around Australia!

40 DAYS of PURPOSE

EMYF will be participating in the 40 Days of Purpose Journey along with our church for the next 7 weeks.

Here are some important instructions to take note of while we study the 40 Days of Purpose material:

please read one chapter a day (of The Purpose Driven Life book)

come prepared to discuss what you've read

there will be some discussion questions which are on the handout that accompanies the church bulletin - if you don't come to our church service then hopefully you can just read the 40DOP book anyway, the leader will go through the questions.

If you don't have a copy of 'A Purpose Driven Life', we are handing out FREE copies of book at youth every week. Please see Richard or Rev. Chew for more information :)

This coming Friday's program (as you all should know) is International Dinner! It will be a unique dinner aiming to be an eye-opener to international missions by serving a variety of special cuisines from different continents of the world!!
Some things to note and to prepare for this special night:

1. Starts @ 6:30pm.
2. Come dressed in your nationality clothes as allocated by the passport.

Just want to let you all know that there will be NO youth this friday as we will all be going to the 'TAMING THE TIGER' EVANGELICAL NIGHT. It will be held at South Perth Church of Christ, this Good Friday 10 April @ 7:30 pm.

Hello everyone!

I hope you are all well.
Just wanted to let you guys know about committee elections for 2009.
This year, there will be NO ELECTIONS.. instead, Rev Chew will be appointing people to the various positions.

The positions are as follows:

-President
-Vice President
-Treasurer
-Secretary
-Music & Outreach
-Many Bible Study/Small group leaders

Nominations are open to all members of Manna Alpha, Manna Beta and EMYF. So if you have been attending youth group regularly (or regularly prior EMYF splitting) and are baptized, we want YOU! Exceptions may be considered accordingly.

Do consider these few positions and start nominating your friends or yourselves!! There may seem like there are only a few positions but DON'T let this deter you from nominating.... if you are truly passionate about an area, we can always consider it and maybe even create a position for you. Also, many of these positions will do more than their primary role so if there are more nominations, we may look into creating more positions to lighten the load for each person =) Do take the time to pray for yourself and everyone else who may be nominating someone/themselves.

What is it??
Doulos was purchased in 1977 by GBA Ships e.V. (previously known as Good Books for All), a private, non-profit, charitable organisation registered in Germany.
Over 20 million visitors have been welcomed on board for tours, programmes and visits to the floating book fair. With stops in over 500 ports of call, this unique ship has visited more than 100 countries in including Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australia, Europe, the Middle East and many island nations.

Doulos is recognised in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's oldest active ocean-going passenger ship.

Its purpose?
Doulos visits port cities throughout the world, supplying vital literature resources, encouraging inter-cultural understanding, training young people for more effective life and service, promoting greater global awareness, providing practical aid and sharing a message of hope in God wherever there is opportunity.

Why am I telling you all this??? Well, it is coming to town so if you are interested in going to see it, please let me know and we can all go together. Manna Alpha are really keen on going to this...

Combined District Youth Event - "As One"

Hey guys! I just want to bring to your attention an event that's happening this Saturday. The three churches in the Australia West district - Kingsway, Immanuel and Grace Methodist - are getting together for one big night!

The last time we got together was last year, and it was a fantastic time of worship, teaching and fellowship. It's gonna be more of the same this year, and we hope we can all get to know our fellow youth groups around the state and join together 'as one'!

We've still got our regular Friday night program this week, and it's going to be Eve's night - so girls, bring all of your friends and be prepared to be entertained and spoilt by your brothers! It should be an awesome night for you girls as us boys are planning some exciting things :)

The district event will be held on Saturday night. Why go? We all have our unique and separate youth groups, and Kingsway EMYF is just one of the three youth fellowships under the CMCA banner. The bible reminds us: "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another" (Hebrews 10:25) - and let's do just that, with everybody. I think there are well over 150 people if we all combine, and imagine what we could do with everybody together!

So, come for a night of teaching, connecting, and worship - this week at our combined district youth event - "AS ONE".

Hey EMYF peeps!

I have been slack and not advertised this so I am going to start doing it properly! Rego is going to be with Sean Heah... We would like to see as many of you guys come to Adelaide and represent the WA Methodist Youth! It will be a great time to bond and gel with other Methodist Youth around our nation as we join to be one family!

This year's theme is Love Without Obstacles... Regos should still be around and to get early bird it is $100 (pretty good) that includes all fees! However you do need to organise your flight but hopefully we can organise t together?

Theme for May and a few thoughts :)

Hello everyone,

How are we all doing? I hope you guys are well. I hope you are having a great first week back at school :) I haven't had such a great start to my week but I'm sure it will get better. Now as things get busy with you guys, I hope you guys continue to pray for each other. Please do email any prayer requests and we will post them up under our prayer items on the right hand side of the blog.

You may have noticed on the right hand side of the blog under "Upcoming events", there is a theme for the month of May. The committee have decided that this year, we will give each month a theme and for that whole month, we will have the theme run through al the weekly programs for the month :) Next month, May, we will be talking about "God & Me" :)

Interestingly, I am watching Ellen (US talk show) and there was a man on the show talking about God and kindness etc. His name was Dr Wayne Dwyer, I don't know if he is Christian, but what he was saying about kindness and love got me thinking. He said that "serotonin" is a neurotransmitter that is the "feel good" chemical and that there was a study in America that showed serotonin release in individuals. He said that "those people who were recipients of a kind deed had greater release of serotonin and felt better than those who were not recipients".

Doesn't that tell you something?! For me, it reminded me of God and how God keeps giving and giving of himself to us that he even gave his one and only Son, Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. That has got to be the greatest gift anyone could ever give! Think about this great gift compared to any gift you could ever give anyone. It just reminded me about how great God is and challenged give more of myself for others.

Doing things for others will make ourselves feel good too so why not make a difference and brighten someone's day by giving of yourself, your time, your skills and your company. It doesn't have to do with money at all, just simply helping someone. Oh, Ellen is great! :)

Give it a go, try doing something nice for someone and keep a notebook of the things that you have done and review it after a week or two and see how its made you feel :) I think you will feel great while making a difference in someone's life!

Well, just announcing that the “sports” night that has been scheduled for this week has been CANCELLED due to our short-sightedness (We forgot to issue permission slips)

However, all’s not lost… We’ve instead organised a fantastic games night…
So join us for a night of fun and fellowship with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
It’ll be a good way to de-stress from a long week of studies that we’ve all endured…
So make sure you rock up. It starts at 7:30 pm at church, and we’ll have singspiration and etc.. before we start the games.

2008 EMYF Committee Elections

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is well. Just wanted to pop in to let you guys all know about the 2008 EMYF Comittee Elections.

I have approached several people about being in committee for 2008 and I hope those people have read the "Formal Written Commitments for Committee Members of EMYF package" and prayed hard about whether they would like to be in the committee.

This year, as the new committee of EMYF will focus on building up the spiritual growth of those between year 8 and 12, we have decided that the committee members shall be those who are NOT in those year groups. Hence, for you to be eligible, you need to be:

-17 years and above (17 years - going onto tertiary education)
-be baptised
-come to youth group regularly for 3 months

We will however have assistant leaders who may be in high school and these will be determined by the committee members who will lead individual bible study groups. In addition to this, we would also like to see our committee members growing spiritually for themselves and hence, would like to ask our committee members to attend their own bible study group (ie. a small group/bible college), be an active member of the church and come on Friday nights to EMYF. We know that this is a big ask but believe that this will the best way for both the committee members and members of EMYF to keep growing in Christ. There are also some guidelines with which you would need to agree to if you choose to be a committee member of EMYF (these are outlined in the "Formal Written Commitments for Committee Members of EMYF package").

Those who are above year 12 are encouraged to think about whether they would like to lead in EMYF. We encourage those who are above year 12 to join Manna. You are still welcome to come to EMYF however, please bare in mind that as of April 2008, the material being taught will be focused more towards high school students and topics more relevant to them. You may find that you have covered it all before and are not getting spiritually fed as much as if you were to join Manna.

If you would like to be part of the team, please shoot me an email, call or sms and I will put your name on the nominations list. We recognise that there is a lot of responsibility and commitment that is required of you so please do pray about it. Nominations will close on 11th March 2008 at 12pm and the 2008 elections will be held on 14th March 2008 during youth group.

The following are the 5 committee positions up for grabs:

-Worship & Outreach

Please have a think and pray about which of these positions you would like to serve in if you are interested in serving with the youth group. Hello!

Just a friendly reminder that there is no youth this coming Friday... 25th Jan because we are going to celebrate Australia Day together instead at South Perth Foreshore.

Please remember to bring your permission slip along with you if you are under the age of 18. We will be meeting at Hungry Jacks at 3:30pm and then walking down to the foreshore together. We will be having pizza together for dinner. Please bring snacks and drinks as we will only be providing pizza and limited amounts of water. Come along to watch the fireworks with your beloved friends as well as play some games too! Also, remember to slip, slop slap so you don't get sun burnt.

Please see the permission slip for details about the outing. The permission slip also includes a map of where to meet and what to bring etc.. The permission slip can be found on the right hand column of the website but just incase you can't access it for some reason, here are the main details..

Musical

Hi everyone,

Greetings. I just wanted to blog in addition to Andrew's spiel with regards to the musical. Hmm.. there wasn't such as big of a turn out at youth as I expected however, some of you will be pleased to know that the casting is already pretty much done. Due to the lack of response from the youth with regard to playing different roles, Vivien has approached people and asked those who agree to playing a part to play a particular role.

Now, that doesn't mean we don't need you! Every member of the youth group is needed! Whether you are in a speaking part or not. The opening scene of this musical is set in a marketplace and we need as many people as we can to make the scene look bustling! So we NEED you! Some rehearsals for the musical will be held during youth group times and others will be held during choir as well as outside of those 2 times. We hope to get the rehearsals of this production underway soon.. today we had our first run through the script and will be running through the script again later on.. so do come along so you don't miss out on the action!!

We will be having another session with Vivien in youth group in mid to late Feb so stay tuned! It is important for you to come as you need to familiarise yourself with the script even if you are not speaking.. there is a scene or two with "crowds" and that is where YOU are needed! So it is important that you join us whenever we have rehearsals so we can include you in the crowd scenes.. this is no small production, it is going to be full scale with not just the youth involved but the choir and even the wider church community. I'm super excited and I know it's going to be a great show!

We need you in this musical.. whether you are a main charactor, minor character, crowd or props people.. we need all the help we can get so lets encourage each other to participate and give it our best.. after all.. this production will be a great way of bringing people to Christ.. isn't that great?! If you have any questions with regard to the musical, the rehearsals or anything else youth related.. feel free to come see myself or any of the committee members.

She is a follower of Jesus, the radical teacher from Nazareth. AS Marcus becomes fatefully intertwined in the tumultuous events leading to the execution of Jesus, he weights the words and example of Christ against the weatlth and power of the world. In the balance hangs .. The Choice

The Choice is the name of our first Youth Musical Production! It is a play encompassing the most significan decision in any person's life - the eternal choice each of us must kae when we encounter the risen Christ. The obvious charms and the hidden chains fo this world present and alluring contrast to the deliberate humility and the inner freedom of Jesus.

Most importantly, we pray that our efforts will help someone, somewhere, choose Jesus.

So.
This friday night at Youth 11th January. We will be having auditions for the Production!
Although this play is set in ancient Rome, it will be performed with a modern perspective which will follow with modern costumes and props.

WE want to include EVERYONE in this musical. The audition is not to be judgemental - instead its purpose is to place the best people in the most suitable roles.
SO i hope to see everyone taking part in these auditions. The audition is to be taken in groups of three. The scripts are linked below. If you don't have enough people for three that shouldn't be a problem. Just let me know on the night.

Merry Christmas

Hi everybody!

A very merry Christmas to one and all from EMYF (and me!). This year has been absolutely terrific, with God's blessings in every aspect of my life. I hope He has been just as real to you this year.

Let us remember amidst the shopping, parties, food and presents, God's greatest gift of all to us - His son Jesus Christ. He was born in the most humble of settings although He was a King. His birth was one of the most (if not the most) important events in history. Let's remember that He is the Saviour of the world, and thank Him for His sacrifice!

May we all have a blessed Christmas with family and friends, and a safe new year.

Youth 2007 Finale - Adams Night

Hold onto your seats guys.... this is the last youth gathering for this year and I have been told to expect nothing short of an extravagant showcase. Expect horses, carrots, humour, clowns, rabbits, girls acting like guys (if they follow what they did last time....), rainbows, love, sarcasm, tears and much much more...... I actually have no idea whats going on, so I'm just going to make it up as I go along. Well...one things for sure, we know that the night is definitely worth more than $60, because Amy apparently got a parking infringement while trying to shop/buy for Adam's Night's presents/resources.

Guys will be surprised and organizers will be comprised of the girls...... (Go the lame joke contest..go Jono!)

Kick off is at 7:30pm.... Friday the 21st of December. Tickets are at the door, prices range from -$10 to $0.

Heres something thats been circulating in cyberspace: THE GOLDEN COMPASS MOVIE

There will be a new children's movie out in December called "The GoldenCompass". The movie has been described as "atheism for kids" and isbased on the first book of a trilogy entitled "His Dark Materials" thatwas written by Phillip Pullman. Pullman is a militant atheist andsecular humanist who despises C. S. Lewis and the "Chronicles ofNarnia". His motivation for writing this trilogy was specifically tocounteract Lewis'symbolisms of Christ that are portrayed in the Narnia series.Clearly, Pullman's main objective is to bash Christianity and promoteatheism. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said ina2003 interview that "my books are about killing God." He has evenstated that he wants to "kill God in the minds of children". Don't letkids see "The Golden Compass".

While "The Golden Compass" movie itself may seem mild and innocent, thebooks are a much different story. In the trilogy, a young streetwisegirl becomes enmeshed in an epic struggle to ultimately defeat theoppressive forces of a senile God. Another character, an ex-nun,describes Christianity as "a very powerful and convincing mistake."In the final book, characters representing Adam and Eve eventually killGod, who at times is called YAHWEH. Well... a long time since someone has posted... so I think I'll break the ice..
Reminder:
1. Please leave your exam details in the chatterbox, or even better email Jono or Kev if you want people to pray for your exams. (Other prayer points are in the right column)
2. Please revise the 'Two ways to live' material as we will be utilizing it straight after exams!
3. Try and come in the next couple of weeks as we will be presenting certificates, completing personal profiles etc. So please make an effort to come!

Most of you will most likely fit one/multiple of the following categories:
1. Chillaxing - The Med students
2. Bored/not motivated to study - Thats me at the moment

Hi everyone!

It's been a while since I've blogged here =Pp

For those of you who don't know, T-shirts are ready for collection! So if you have ordered a T-shirt, please see me to collect it and for those who have not paid yet, please also pay soon. If you have not ordered a shirt and would like to purchase one, I have 7 blue T-shirts left and they are going fast so be sure to jump in quick and grab one! I only have sizes S and M available (note that these are males sizes so females, you would probably go with an S). Each shirt is selling for $30 and they are good quality shirts... the colours don't come out in the wash and kill the whole load =P After a couple of washes, they still don't fade either - I have tried it out myself =)

Hello..

Hope everyone's week is going well so far (: Just popped in to say a BIG thank you to God for His blessings upon us at the Combined Youth Fellowship and to everyone who brought food for refreshments! (: I'm sure all of you will agree with me that 110807 was truly a fantabulous night! It was so good to see sooooo many youths there that night.. I was told that 160 people rocked up (even more than we expected which is really encouraging!)

I hope all of you continue to grow in your love for God and for one another. Let's continue to encourage one another in Christ and keep that fire burning inside us all (: It's truly heart warming to see soo many youths with so much passion for the Lord.. hehehe ^^

Just want to bring an event our church is hosting to your attention, that might be of interest to everybody. The following information is taken from their website.

New Heart Music Ministries is a non-profit organization committed to ushering and inviting God's people into the holy Presence of the Triune God by means of music in Christian Worship. Since there is no true worship unless a person is saved by faith in Jesus Christ, New Heart Music Ministries is committed to bearing witness for Christ through excellence in music education with a Christian distinctive in the community.

Many churches face the challenges of how to make the worship celebrative yet reverent, how to integrate the younger generation of worshipers with the older ones, how to blend newer praise choruses with more traditional hymns. On top of these challenges, Chinese churches in the United States also face the difficulties of integrating different language or dialect groups into the same service, and the lack of Chinese music resources, or Chinese translation of new hymns.

We believe God has called the New Heart Music Ministries to tackle some of these challenges and to meet some of these needs. For more than four years, God has developed the worship team in the Houston Chinese Church and He has blessed them with a ministry that makes impact. As we are starting to make some in-roads toward meeting the needs, we realized that it will take more than one or two people working full-time to develop this ministry. It will take the concerted effort of the whole team. But realistically, there is not a lot of churches that can support a worship team working full-time. We need a center where the musicians can work to provide for their livelihood and at the same time serving God through the development of this ministry.

We thank God for gifting our team members not only with first-rated musical skills, but also teaching skills. Therefore, the school is a center where the worship team members will be employed to teach and to develop the music ministry. We are not only a group who goes to different churches to lead worship and to share what we have learned in worship leading, but we are also a school which excels in quality music education with a Christian distinctive.

The Chinese Methodist Church in Australia are hosting this group in Melbourne and Perth while they hold events in Australia and New Zealand.

It is a really excellent opportunity to learn from distinguished musicians about not only the instruments and worship, but also about serving God and playing for him. After all, that is our utmost priority in life!

While in Perth they will be conducting several sessions:

1. The first is a Praise & Worship night entitled "Come! Let Us Worship". This will be held on August 17, at 7:30pm at South Perth Church of Christ. It will be in Mandarin only.

2. There will be a music evangelistic meeting entitled "Everlasting Love" held the next evening (August 18) at 7:30pm also at South Perth Church of Christ. Again this will be in Mandarin only.

3. There will be a Worship Seminar held on August 18, at Kingsway Methodist Church from 1-4pm. This consists of a session of Worship, followed by a general session on teaching about personal worship, followed by four streams of workshops. These are:

The Worship Leader
The Worship Pianist
The Worship Drummer
The Concept of Worship

This is of particular interest to us as it is held in English and is at our very own church! The seminar is not free as New Heart Music Ministry pays for their own flights so the tickets offset some of their costs. It costs $20 for students, or $30.

4. Finally there is Worship Team Training on August 19 from 2-5pm, at Immanuel Methodist Church in Manning. I believe this is for the church singspiration teams to train with the group.

hello everyone!

how are we doing? =) just popped in to remind everyone about the Combined youth fellowship! Here are the details:

Who: 3 MYFs (Kingsway, Immanuel and Grace)

What: Combined Youth Fellowship

When: Saturday 11th August @ 6:30pm to 9:30-10pm thereabouts

Where: Blue Gum Recreation Centre, Moolyeen Rd, Brentwood (past Brentwood Primary School on your left)

Why: Praise and Worship God together with our sister church fellowships, meet and greet old and new faces and have an awesome time of fellowship (with food)! =Pp

Our very own sister fellowship GMYF will be hosting the night... i kno being late can be quite fashionable nowadays but lets pay our respects to the hosts of the night.. so please try not to be late as there will be HEAPS and HEAPS of people. It would be good if we could get most people seated for a prompt start ^^

Come along with a friend or two to an awesome night of fellowship and fun!

Lastly, just a reminder that there will be NO YOUTH on Friday 10th August.

Well, holidays are over the study cycle resumes :O
This coming week's youth involves a special bible study session which comes in the form of question night. In the last bible study session, you were all given an opportunity to write down any questions of an religous nature that might be pondering your mind. (well... hopefully you did)

If not, on the spot questions will also be taken on the night. These questions will be answered by our panel which will include Rev. Elijah and a few other experienced members. So if you have any further questions (that were not handed in to your small group leader) please write in on a piece of paper and bring it on the night, or if you have a superb memory, just remember what the question is and ask it on the night. But remember not all questions can be answered with a concrete correct answer, as only God has the ability to do that! But the panel will answer your questions as well as they possibly can.

Oh, and remember to pray for the TEE students! The time is drawing near.... Ganbatte!!

me amY again =) just wanted to pop in to update you guys on the TSHIRTS....

now.. we haven't yet placed any orders because we initially hadn't met the quota of 50 shirts but seeing as we've only got about 30 people buying TSHIRTS and don't seem to have any other people wanting one.. we will be placing orders for just however many shirts we have... but of course we would like to reach the quota of 50 shirts.... sooooo... this is your LAST CHANCE to place an order for a shirt... if you can't pay now... just put in an order and pay later... but payment as soon as possible would be preferrable =)

we are nice people... so have decided to give you all one last chance if you wanted to get a tshirt... we won't be postponing it anymore because we decided... if you really wanted a shirt.. you probably would have already done so seeing as everyone is on holidays and has all the time in the world other than studies to place an order =Pp soooo... the deadline is 30th July.

This is when Renate WILL be placing the orders... so if you don't get in before then... then we're gonna have to say "sorry... im afraid you've missed out" and why would you NOT wanna miss out??? coz we will be having Friday nights where everyone will come dressed in their shirts and look super duper spunky cool... u even get them in RED or BLUE.. so.. if u don't have a tshirt... it means u can't wear one and look like everyone else right?? sooo... hurry and get those shirts so you can join in the fun and be like 'one of us' =)

its me amY again! =) back to do more blogging =Pp this time... about YOUTH ALIVE!!!!!!! Those of you who went to camp would have already heard me ramble on about this but this is for those of you who don't already know about this event or would like more details about it. As all of you who went to camp would already know.. this WON'T be a formal youth outing but that still doesnt stop you from gathering a group of your friends together from youth or not and going =) i thought i'd blog about it as i was sent information about the whole gig and some of you may be wondering where to get tickets and what its all about etc... it goes for 2 nights and this year SWITCHFOOT will be there... *woooot* *wooot* ok so.. here are the details...

Who: ADRENALIN 2007
What: Youth Christian Concert
When: 31st Aug (Friday) & 1st Sept (Saturday)
Time: Friday - 7:30pm main event (pre-show starts @ 6:30pm) & Saturdary - 7:30pm main event (pre-show EXOFEST from 3pm)
Where: Challenge Stadium
Why: 'coz we're youths, we know how to have a great time and we have one very special thing in common.. we've got JESUS! =) also its awesome to celebrate Jesus with other awesome youths from all over Western Australia!

ok.. so that's the basics... but below are more details...

hello everyone!

ok so i'm at the right place =) i wanted to blog but this site looks so technical that i never really dared play around so i've always asked kev to do things for me on this site.. but since he's a tad busy these days.. i thot i'd give it a shot and blog.. so here i am blogging at this site for the first time ^^

as you all know and are very familiar... AYC (Annual Youth Convention) is not long to go... its going to be happening on 2nd to 5th Dec 2007 at Stanwell Tops Convention Centre in Sydney. Sydney EMYF have done a tremendous job in putting together this year's AYC and im sure it will be a blast! last year was totally awesome and im sure this year it will be just as good =D Sydney is also a good place for shopping and just tourism in general... so do take the time to go if you can... book those tickets in early.. put in ur holiday leave with work early and get set to enjoy the time of ur life at AYC Sydney 2007.

Registration is now open so feel free to get in early and register online. You can register online or you can fill in a registration form which I will hand out SOON. Payment for Sydney convention can either be paid to Ivan Lau or a cheque can be written to the address that is on the website. I do suggest that you register by form and hand both your form and money to Ivan, that way he can have a clear record of who has registered and who has paid and then collate all the money from our youth group and send in ONE BIG CHEQUE =)
