2 March: Worship Talk

Hi everybody,

Just to let you know of this week's program. It's a special topic talk, on Worship. We know you all know what worship is, but why is worship important? How do we worship God properly and how should we focus our minds and hearts? The word worship has been overused and misused sometimes, so this talk should be a good reminder of how to get to the "heart of worship". Even that phrase has been overused! Anyway, I hope we all turn up with a blank slate, ready to rewrite our thoughts on worship. And, ready to worship with our whole heart.

After all, we were made to worship!

23 February: Bible Study

Hi everyone!

Our bible study on the "Four Great Loves" has now officially ended! I hope that everybody got alot out of the materials. Remember, bible studies don't mean as much if we don't practice what we've learnt.

In any case, we are beginning a new bible study starting this Friday. It's called "Back To Basics" and is a change of pace from the other material. I quote from the preface to the book:
"No-one has been a Christian so long that they don't need to get back to basics from time to time. Back to Basics is a seven-week course for teaching and reminding Christians about basic biblical belief and living.
Back to Basics is built around the well-known Just for Starters set of Bible studies. For twenty years, Just for Starters has served as a useful tool for personal follow-up. Countless young or new believers around the world have been nurtured and established in the Christian faith through these seven foundational Bible studies.
Back to Basics starts with the framework of Just for Starters and supplements it with new material:
  • illustrations;
  • testimonies old and new;
  • songs old and new;
  • book Reviews;
  • ideas for Discussion;
  • skills to learn;
  • the 'Your Story' section at the end of each study calls on participants to put together what they've learnt and respond appropriately.
By using Back to Basics in small groups, or even in larger weekly congregational meeting, your church or fellowship group can re-establish basic beliefs and priorities, make sure everyone is up to speed on the essentials, and lay the foundation for continuing spiritual growth together.
In churches where this material has already been used, it has certainly done this job. We hope that it can prove useful in your context as well."

I hope everybody finds studying God's word a rewarding and refreshing experience. We begin on Friday at 7:30pm. We'll be in the same groups as we have been. God bless!

Photos!

Hi everyone!

I've spent several days trying to figure out a way of putting photos up onto this blog. Finally, I've found a semi-solution which requires a little work on my part but which will eventually be a fairly good system, I think. Thanks to our sister youth group the CMYF for the ideas!

You will notice that down the side bar on the right I have added a new section called "Photo Gallery". There are links which point to the various activities our Youth Group has done over the years. I'll also post here now and then to draw your attention to new things.

The important website to look at is this one:

If you would like to upload some photos, contact me and I'll see how we can arrange it.

God bless!
